It is, without doubt, a paradise you must visit when you visit Nicaragua. Ometepe Island is a volcanic island located in Lake Cocibolca, it is formed by two imposing volcanoes, Concepción and Maderas. Volcán Concepción is active and has a distinctive conical shape, while Volcán Maderas is lower and has a crater that houses a lagoon. The island is covered with lush tropical vegetation and forests, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and ecotourists. At the base of the volcanoes and on the slopes, there are different types of habitats that harbor a diversity of flora and fauna.
TOUR DETAILS
We leave Granada at 6:00 am, and drive 1 hour to the Port of San Jorge. We will take the 7:30 am ferry for 1 hour to the island. At the port of Moyogalpa, ATVs are waiting for us to tour the island, first, we will visit the Charco Verde Natural Reserve where we will have breakfast and then at 10:30, we will go to the town of Altagracia, we will go around the lake for about an hour, in some places, we will have the opportunity to swim and relax, and then, we will go to the beach of Santo Domingo, we will lunch there and then, we will go to the Natural Reserve of Ojo de Agua. In Ojo de Agua, we will spend the rest of the day, and then we will take the 6:30 pm ferry back to Granada.
What is Ojo de Agua?
The pools of Ojo de Agua are supplied by subway waters that are rich in minerals and have a pleasant temperature. This place is known for being an oasis of natural hot springs. Ojo de Agua is located in the middle of an impressive natural environment. The lush vegetation, including fruit trees and palms, creates a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere.
